ELF ON THE SHELF COZY CHAIR-CROCHET BLANKET AND OTHER FREE PATTERNS

I wish it wasn’t true but this year is the year our Elf will be officially retired, I’m hoping he can work again part time once grandchildren fill our home.
I didn’t want to leave him in the box waiting for grandchildren to make an appearance, so I set out brainstorming how I could display him all season.
Some ideas I had were to let him hang out on our Christmas tree, make an indoor wreath with him on it (only wiring him on as not to damage him) doing what I did last year having him bring little family gifts weekly or shadow boxing him.
Over the summer I put together barbie sized crochet ripple blankets with the intention of making some Elf ones as well, mostly for my nieces to leave as a gift for their elf.
I can not lie I really really wanted our Elf Johnny to have one too, and so the idea to make him a comfy retirement chair where he could sit on our electric fireplace with his blanket and be part of or family all season became my mission.
This summer hubz brought me home some nice pine boards from an old shipping crate at work, I’ve made things here and there with them, I dug through those project’s scraps for pieces I could make into a chair.
You can find my rough- hand sketch of the pieces and instructions here
Please note you may have to adjust as you go because I used scraps and then traced them for the pattern. It is a simple build and I am confident with the pattern and some slight adjustments you too can build one, mainly the angle of the arms and then seat width and how high up it needs to be placed on the arms.

The blanket is a version of my barbie ripple blanket, you can find the pattern here
The length is 10 inches for this one pictured. You may want it a little shorter or longer.
Johnny hasn’t arrived yet but pictured below is Emily our girl elf who had an unfortunate accident with our dog in 2016 (our lux was 9 months old). I almost tossed her, glad I didn’t as I think she looked great as a mummy elf for Halloween. I simply stuffed the hollow chewed head with cotton and hot glued strips of white fabric around her like a mummy.

You can find the simple instructions and pattern for an elf skirt here.
I’ve also made our elves fabric sleeping bags, you can find the pattern here.
They are sewn just like fabric bags (no handles) you can find the instructions in more detail here for lined bags
Here you can find the pattern for the crochet “sock money” sleeping bag.
You don’t need the chair to use the blankets or bags, simply lay your elf somewhere or prop him up against something in a sitting position.
