We don’t have plenty to give as far as monetary gifts but we try to include others at Christmas the best we can.
In the past we have done the whole adopt a family, pluck and angel from a tree thing, when you buy gifts for the description on your angel, donated to the food bank too.
However one year one of our kid’s class decided they would collect gifts for the seniors homes, and it got me to thinking, if the school felt the need to switch gears, I think I will too.
Let’s face it the food bank and under privileged kids and families are at the top of everyone’s radar every Christmas.
Not that I don’t think we all should stop giving to them, however I feel a lot of smaller organizations, and people amoung us are over shadowed and even forgotten about at Christmas by the larger charities.
Our school continued to do the seniors at Christmas, and my one set of nieces also do it now, however as our children grew and we no longer had children in the school system I was left looking for ways to give.
Last year I came across a small community organization collecting for meals on wheels, for seniors and those confined to their homes, I donated small gifts for them to make up stockings as well as handmade cards.
This year I started making cards in January, I was determined to get as many cards as I could, economically, yet to reach as many people as I could.

I was fortunate to hear of 3 more organizations that asked for holiday cards, one being the Canadian Military, to send over seas.
I had 2 shoe boxes full but I wanted to make a few more, I am struggling health wise even with my treatments so I find myself on the couch or in bed most days, so I spent the afternoon one day designing these cards to then work up plastic canvas scraps to add to them, they are simply hot glued on.
By being able to do these at a slow pace and from the couch it makes me feel good that I can contribute and hopefully brighten someone’s Christmas just a little.

This is such a kind thing that you are doing. I need to start doing cards, think I will try that this year. Feels good giving to others too. I hope you are feeling better today. Thank you. The week ended better then it started for sure here. I will be started my cards in January, hoping to come up.with some more inexpensive designs to do and share. This year I plan to make ornaments all year too now that I know I have a place to donate them too. Keeps my mind busy and hopfully a smile to many faces

I am,.the symptoms I had for almost 3 weeks have just disappeared, glad but now that I know i have the pesky stones its hard to forget.
