HAPPY NATIONAL HOME MADE COOKIE DAY!
Traditionally shortbread isn’t cut into shapes I don’t think, but in this house we prefer the melt in your mouth taste of shortbread to that of a sugar cookie.
This recipe has been tested many many times over in the last couple of decades, almost always made into holiday shapes, even used for Christmas parties as decorate your own cookies with icing and candies.
We mostly bake them plain, sometimes with coloured sugar. My children love these so much even now, their classmates use to ask for these or my chocolate chip cookies whenever treats were sent to school.
You can find the chocolate chip recipe card HERE
I don’t have any photos of the made product, but we will be making these shortly with our favorite ghost shaped cutter.
We use simple metal and plastic shaped cutters like above, I have never tried any other kind and am unsure if it will produce a well shaped cookie or hot mess lol.

National Homemade Cookies Day is observed annually on October 1. If you are looking for an excuse to bake some homemade cookies, look no further. Package them up and share them with neighbors, co-workers, and friends!

These sound good! I’ve never thought about making Halloween shaped cookies. I think I even have a ghost shaped cookie cutter in my box. 🤔 I’ll have to try this recipe because here lately sugar cookies have hurt my stomach.
