AUTUMN LEAVES & PUMPKINS PLEASE

Pumpkins are one of my favourite parts of Halloween and Fall, every year I look forward to creating pumpkin themed crafts, cheapy crafts of course.

This year I am joining in on the TEAL PUMPKIN PROJECT

I have some pencils and am working on some crocheted monsters to hand out to anyone who can not have candy.

I needed a teal pumpkin to display so people know ahead of time, and the day of, that our house is trinket or treat.

I could have simply painted a wooden cut out or purchased a foam teal pumpkin, but if you don’t already know, I like to be unique, and so I waited until this came to me.

At the thrift store one day I seen this cake pan for $2 and I knew it would become my teal pumpkin once I used teal spray paint I had on hand

I also knew I would mount it to wood , the rest came to life as I dug through our scrap wood pile.

The grey wood was already painted, half the work done lol and my colour scheme chosen for me.

I sanded the pieces further for a distressed look, the back slates are held together by simply screwing the frame to the ends of the slates.

Tricket or Treat time ready

At the same time as the teal cake pan was at the thrift store so was this mini cake one for $2 as well, I spray painted it with orange.

These spray painted cake pans are a cute addition to Autumn & Halloween displays.

Hubz suggested I paint the faces black, but I enjoy the simple look of the solid coloured pumpkins.

This is a Dollar Tree wooden pumpkin that I “stained” with a mix of latex paint and

Isopropyl Rubbing Alcohol 70%, you want it thinned right out. ( I also use acrylic craft paint often the same way)

I brushed it on then rubbed it off with a cloth and once dried I lightly sanded it

The leaves are my very first attempt at needle felting

Our Little Red House has the cutest felted pumpkins HERE, I have ordered in some more colours from wish and hope to improve my skills

The flower is crocheted with a button sewn in the middle, the pattern can be found HERE

This pumpkin is a dollar store pot of faux grass I painted it orange ( actually used the orange stain mix from the dollar tree pumpkin project) and then painted on the face.

Took inspiration from the faces on the miniature pumpkins

I am working on filling in the backs with some sort of crafted house. All DIY except the figurines are from Micheals.

  1. Love it, these are so cute. I have been working on some garden decorations for the Fall, Had a fun day at the thrift store a couple days ago and picked up some pumpkin items to put out under my gazebo. We never get rain so I figure why not put some pretty Fall decor out there and then the other night a big storm came in and everything is wet out there.

Your felted leaves came out perfect, before you know it you will be making all kinds of shapes and critters. I get a lot of my wool felt from Michael’s with a 50% off coupon. Felting supplies are just about the only thing I can find in the whole store that is never on sale. You can only use the coupons on non sale items. Thank you for the mention too.
