Who’s seen Little Shop Of Horrors? I’d bet the question with less hands up is who hasn’t see it? Even my youngest children can tell me when they see Audrey 2 that it’s the man eating Parana plant, my generation proceeds to say feed me Seymour as soon as they see her.
It is one of my favourite movies, up until last year I had not seen it in a long time, and while I was doing this craft I kept referring to it as “she” but in the movie “she” clearly has a deep “he” voice!
What inspired this craft was 2 things, I’ve wanted a LSH inspired wreath for a couple of years now and Hubz saw Audreys at Michael’s already made into floral arrangements but he waited too long and they sold out
They were indoor arrangements anyway,so I busted out my scroll saw, drill, paints, a scrap piece of 2 inch deck board, some dollar store greenery, and with both of our ideas, put together a little Audrey made of wood!
What a beach it was scroll sawing through 2 inch wood though!
Once she was cut out:
I painted it a medium green then dry brushed on a bright green
Next I painted inside her mouth red, I extended the red onto the outside for her tongue
Her teeth white
Once those had a few coats and dry I painted her lips and gums.
The gums I did a medium purple then the gums I layered 3 shades of a rust orange ( mixed the base one with white to achieve the 2 lighter shades)
I coated the outside part of the tongue with poly acrylic to give them a bit of shine and dimension.
For the veins I mixed a drop of medium blue with the medium green from her “skin” and painted them on with a super thin brush. I free handed them on with pencil first but I have included a sketch for cutting out and transferring the veins on if you like ( see link at the end)
I painted both sides! hubz kindly reminded me I should, darn brain fog I swear the simplest of things go over my head these days.
I drilled a hole a the bottom for a dowel I had painted the same as the skin and hot glued it in.
I used a scrap piece of 1×4 for the feed me sign, layering grey and white paint for a distressed look, I transferred the words with carbon paper and used a water based paint marker to paint it on. I also drilled a hole and glued in a dowel to it.
I clear coated it all with a spray coat in matte.
Her pot is metal ( actually an insert from my witchy cauldron I didn’t need) Faux distressed/chippy/corroded painted by layering teal spray paint and brushing on black rust paint and sanding in between ( I always use water based Tremcald)
Added a false bottom with a block of wood and plywood circle drilled onto it, drilled 2 holes into the wood to glue the sign and Audrey down into, then cut floral foam ( not the soft stuff you use for real plants, the faux arrangements foam) and hot glued it in to fill the space around the sign and her.
To finish it I bought 4 stems of greenery from the dollar store, I cut the individual leaves off of one of them and hot glued them under Audrey and onto her dowel stem.
I snipped down 3 of them into smaller picks and inserted them into the foam ( once I had it like I liked I added hot glue to the ends and re inserted them)
I used the bare “stems”, bent and glued them into the foam as well for her “tentacles”
As I was adding the greenery and finsihing up I noticed little buds on the one kind, they look like little BABY AUDREYS, total accident but WOW! YAY!
I know she is no great art piece, and I’ve seen many Audreys made with different mediums, never wood, but I LOVE HER!

The feed me sign is HERE and fits onto a scrap piece of 1×4 wood 5.5 inches long.
