GNOME “GARDEN”

gnome

I picked up this unfinished real wooden display ( book) self last Fall for $7, Hubz had suggested I make a “doll house” interchangeable for the seasons.
I couldn’t seem to envision a doll house that could go from Halloween/Fall to Christmas/Winter to Spring/Summer, but I did see it as more of a seasonal display of some sort.
You can see here how I did it up for Christmas/Winter, I never got a chance to share the Halloween one, I look forward to adding to it and sharing this year.
The weather is warming up here, and daylight savings makes the days seem brighter and longer, even though my health is not what I had hoped.
My test results confirmed that my iron transfusion in October didn’t take and my levels have diminished back to almost bare minimum, I am slowly trying to find small joys in my days.
I had this desire to grasp life and “live” this year, it was going to be my year, I try and hope that while I may not succeed in spades I will still manage to be better than last year, time will tell and in the meanwhile here I am.
Today I am sharing the few things done so far for my Summer display shelf. I picked up a few gnome miniatures from Michaels ( with a 45% off sale and a rewards 25% more off, yay me!) that will be part of the display once I have added more things to it, I was a little disappointed in the selection and hope they will restock soon, for now I picked up 3. The little cacti in the photos where purchased for 45 + 25 off as well, they were barely $1 each.
These mini signs are Rae Dunn inspired cassette tape cases into faux wooden blocks, you can see here how they are made, click here for these gnome or fairy garden inspired print outs for your own display blocks.
Next on my craft table are some gnome doors for the display, hope to share them soon.

  1. Your signs and cacti are very charming! This post will be one of my features from the “Welcome Spring” link party. -Marci @ Stone Cottage Adventures
