I remember, very vaguely the actual times, but without a doubt the feeling, the magic, when listening to these albums ( or similar ones) at Christmas. The joy almost similar to my belief in Santa Clause and getting gifts.
I now tend to agree with my kids, why listen to them now, the quality is bad and the sound of the Smurfs or Oscar the grouch belting out any song is cause of ear bleeding, however having them in my collection is a must, albums Christmas or otherwise is not only the music but the artwork too. I have to admit I don’t listen to them as much as the other Christmas albums ( last week share of those here) but I do pop them in throughout the season here and there, and have taken the time to pick out some of my favourites.
I hope some of you remember these albums or at best can appreciate them as they are from the cartoons of our childhoods, (or your children’s childhoods) an extension of Christmas, when we were to young to appreciate Elvis or Bing Crosby Christmas music.
At the bottom of the page you will find some printables that can be coloured in and framed in and 8×10 frame to be used as a Chrsitmas countdown.
MERRY CHRISTMAS SESAME STREET 1975
Sesame Street is my favourite all time childhood show, even more then The Flinstones. The puppets always intrigued me, and as a child of immigrants Sesame Street was my first introduction to English, today I am proudly bilingual and English has always been my strong subject and skill.
Favourites on the album:
A Christmas Story- it’s not a song, it’s a classic episode where Bert & Ernie trade some of their favourite things at Mr Hooper’s store for gifts for each other.
I Hate Christmas by Oscar
12 Days of Christmas
All I Want For Christmas Is My Two Front Teeth by The Count
MERRY CHRISTMAS WITH THE SMURFS 1983
Like most child of the 80’s I watched Saturday morning cartoons and the Smurfs were part of the line up, who can resist the cute little blue gnomes?
Favourites on the album:
Winter Wonderland
Santa Claus Is On His Way
12 Days Of Christmas – Smurfs edition
CHRISTMAS WITH THE CHIPMUNKS VOLUME 2 1963
Alivn, Simon, Theodore, Do, do, do do do do! Do, do, do do do do!
Only makes sense signing chipmunks have their own Christmas album, I must find volume 1 to go with this one.
Favourites on the album:
Jingle Bell Rock
Jolly Old St Nick
THE TWELVE DAYS OF CHRISTMAS WITH THE CHIPMUNCKS 1980
I wonder how many Christmas albums they made?
Favourites on the album:
Hang Up Your Stockings
All I Want For Christmas Is My Two Front Teeth
The Twelve Days Of Christmas
HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS 1957
We had to have this in our collection, although I must admit the live action film with Jim Carey is my favourite over the classic.
Favourites on the album:
Side 1 is The Reading Of The Story
Side 2 is an awesome collection of songs from around the world sung in English.
A CABBAGE PATCH CHRISTMAS 1984
When I saw this album at a thrift store I had to have it. I still have my Cabbage Patch Dolls, one red head yarn hair and one brown hair corn silk hair. My daughter played with them as well, I received both as Christmas gifts a few years apart.
Favourites on the album:
Best Time Of The Year
Mrs Santa Claus
All One Family
THE STORY OF SNOOPY’S CHRISTMAS & OTHER FAVOURITE CHILDREN’S SONGS 1968
I picked up this album when we first purchased a turntable a few years back, ITS SNOOPY that’s why lol. I wasn’t even born when this was made, Snoopy is old but I love how he spans the generations and I love all the holiday episodes of Charlie Brown.
Favourites on the album:
Marshmellow World
Snoopy’s Christmas
THE CARE BEARS CHRISTMAS 1983
I was 6 when this album was made, I don’t remember having it but when I saw it at our favourite local record shop I scooped it up.
Favourites on the album:
A Care Bears Christmas
Fa La La La Happy Christmas Time
We Wish You A Merry Christmas
CHRISTMAS COUNTDOWN PRINTABLES
MAKE SURE FIT PICTURE TO FRAME OR SCALE TO FIT MEDIA IS NOT CHECKED OFF DURING PRINTING-IT WILL THROW THE ACTUAL SIZES OFF. ( MINE HAS AN 8X10 OPTION I USE THAT ONE) IN PORTRAIT OR LANDSCAPE AS NEEDED. PRINTERS CAN BE SUCH A PAIN! IF IT IS TOO BIG USE AN 8X10 PICTURE OR THE FRAME BACKING TO TRACE ON AND CUT DOWN.
Click on print of choice, opens in a new window to save and print and colour in. Leave the Christmas ball ornament white, once you put it in a frame use a black permenant type marker like a sharpie and write in the numbers on the ball daily.
To wipe it off each day simply use a barley wet cloth or paper towel.

So fun, I remember all of these, took me back to my childhood. My sister loved the smurfs. I also watched Sesame street as a child and my kids did too, they loved it. Cookie Monster was my daughter’s favorite character ever and my son was a huge Thomas the Tank and Bob the Builder fan.
