OUR CABIN IN THE CITY

Our printer stand, falls in the category of vintage, my late dad built this in the 70s, I believe they are known as magazine racks (under the printer opens up) it was stained nice and dark and now I wish I had not painted it years back.printer

This oar was in hubz boss’s barn, he was tossing 2 away (one was turned into a snowman) this one had damage and duct tape marks, he couldn’t figure out why I’d want it lol, it is one of my favourite pieces, I had wanted a beat up looking one for the wall so bad, for so long.

This little table which  I think may be a stool, was found when I was on the hunt for a “table” narrow enough to fit here in front of our handmade ladder to paint blue. I ran into this at a thrift store for a whopping $2.99, already blue! As you can see we like lanterns as well.stool

These tables where purchased from and older couple selling their home and downsizing, the tops had seen better days, perfect because I had hoped to find tables I could “distress”. I sanded them down and got this awesome rustic look. The red shaggy carpet was my compromise with hubz, I decorated how I wanted he got his rug ( we looked at woodland printed ones but at $200 it was a solid NO) the rug goes with the colours I picked to go with mostly wood things, red, brown, navy blue, and grey. More lanterns and those round coasters made by me a few years ago, a tree design I wood burned in.

A cabin needs pillow for lounging, I made these pillow cases and curtain from a flannel top sheet I found brand new at a thrift store.pillows

I redid a vintage desk a few year back and it sits in one corner with my sewing stuff and for our computer in the other corner we found a “vintage” reproduction desk on clearance.

  1. I am so far behind on others blogs. I am taking a day of catching up with some of my favorite posters. I think all your thrift store remakes look great, you really made a home out of your cabin. Always love hunting for vintage items to redo. I am working on a chair bench at the moment, hope I finish it this week.
